Special Occasion Florals features the work of award-winning local artist Laura Lee Ruckle. We offer fine china, quilted wall hangings and many other original, handcrafted gifts. Born in Missouri and raised in New Jersey, Laura Lee studied art education at Douglass College, got married and moved to a farm in Union County. While raising her family, she was active as a leader in 4-H, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. After working four years at the Laurelton State School, she became an art teacher in the Mifflinburg School District, teaching there from 1965 until she retired in 1989. Laura Lee was a founding member of the Susquehanna Doll Club and the Piecemakers Quilt Guild of the Susquehanna Valley, as well as a member of the Nittany Valley Chapter of the Embroiderers Guild of America. Laura Lee was one of the makers of the Bicentennial Quilt in 1976 and has taught numerous private students over the years. Handcrafted gifts for sale include quilts, framed needlework, crocheted pieces, hand painted porcelain plates and dishes, and jewelry.
